Karen Hoyer: Artwork
Every once in a while I'm inspired to create a sculpture, a drawing, a fabric collage... Here are some examples...
Mixed Media Sculpture Created for a curated exhibit called “Enemies” at St. James Cathedral, Chicago The sculpture is created in the style of a theatrical mask made of paper mache molded over a clay form. This mask however was split vertically down the middle of the face, revealing that the inside of the head is composed of dozens of miniature spools of thread. The multicolored strands are strung with type written messages containing phrases we carry in our heads but hopefully never utter.
The phrases were collected by requesting anonymous suggestions via email and internet sites.
The Descent of Man appearing in 1871 as a blood-born German Empire ceded Alsace-Lorraine from the humiliated French these hundreds of pages mostly common sense that Keats got right about poetry... “striking the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts, and appear almost a remembrance” read the words, turn the pages see the face of truth
